❄️ How an Air Conditioner Works: The Refrigeration Cycle

That's a huge and essential piece of technology! An Air Conditioner (Aircon), or AC unit, is fundamentally a heat transfer system that uses the laws of thermodynamics to move thermal energy from one location (your home/room) to another (the outdoors).

Here is a comprehensive overview covering the physics, components, types, and current trends.

Evaporator Coil: The now cold, low-pressure liquid enters the evaporator coil (inside). Warm, humid air from the room is blown over this coil. The heat from the air is absorbed by the refrigerant, causing the refrigerant to evaporate (change from liquid to gas). This absorption of heat is what cools the air.

Dehumidification: As the warm air passes over the cold coil, moisture condenses on the coil (like water droplets on a cold glass), removing humidity from the room, which also increases comfort.
